Carbon steel

The term carbon steel refers to iron-carbon alloys containing no further alloying elements. Carbon steel has a carbon content between 0.2% and 0.65% and relatively small quantities of valuable alloying elements such as nickel and chromium: subject to corrosion, with low mechanical strength, especially at high temperatures; at very low temperatures it becomes brittle.
